Installed electrical systems in multi-million dollar custom homes, and specialized in the custom remodel and renovation of high-end homes on the East Bench of Salt Lake City. Trouble shot and repaired electrical systems that were originally installed from the early 1940's to 2013. Required a breadth of knowledge and a willingness to adapt my skills to meet the specific challenges presented by modifying electrical work that was installed decades ago. Electrical renovation required that I learn on the job very quickly, however, as a master electrician I was also responsible for relaying the lessons I had learned to apprentice and journeyman electricians. The National Electrical Code is a rigorous standard that is enforced on every job by trained inspectors. It is extremely important to not only teach apprentices appropriate installation standards but also to educate them on what may and may not constitute a code violation.

I started with Tesla Lee Electric in 1999 as one of three employees. At the peak of our success in 2008, we employed approximately 19 apprentice, journeyman, and master electricians. This growth was mostly spurred when I was fortunate enough to obtain and retain the contract to install electrical for single-family homes in the premiere active retirement community of 'SunRiver St. George.' In the years I worked with Tesla, I wired nearly 1,000 homes. I also installed electrical systems for countless commercial buildings, swimming pools, home theaters, and landscapes. Perhaps the most rewarding of all my accomplishments at Tesla was witnessing six of the apprentice electricians I had trained go on to obtain either their Journeyman or Master's electrical licenses. I learned to trust my apprentices and taught them to operate independently and instilled in them the same sense of pride that was taught to me. As a small business partner, I was required to wear many hats at Tesla. Some days I would not pull a single wire or install a single device because finishing an estimate or meeting with a potential client took precedent. Eventually, I spent the majority of my time meeting with homeowners, contractors, inspectors, potential employees and vendors. I designed the daily work schedule, provided logistical and technical support to my apprentices and they coordinated the installation of the electrical systems.
