I am currently working as an ML engineer and coffee researcher at Roest, a coffee roaster manufacturer. We are pushing the boundaries of consistency with a data driven and forward looking approach to roasting. With modern tools we aim to provide roasting professionals and novices with the information and insights they need to make more informed decisions by reducing the astronomical number of unknowns and data points across the coffee supply chain.I am a self-driven researcher, critical thinker, social coffee nerd, music lover, and printed-matter enthusiast. I love to be engaged in conversation on topics such as traceability, knowledge sharing, energy use, grinder particle size distribution, spectroscopy, but most of all data in coffee; specifically, how machine learning and data analyses can be used during roasting, producing and processing coffee to increase yields, reduce waste, tackle climate change, improve consistency and aid artisans. My work involves full-stack development, control systems design, embedded system design, PCB design, data analysis, data set generation, the entire ML lifecycle, R&D, and of course sourcing, grading, roasting, brewing, and cupping coffee.
