In the role of application specialist I was responsible for working with the customer, sales team and engineering to ensure that we delivered the most appropriate solutions for the customers need. This included assisting with preparation of sales proposals, installation and commissioning of systems, development and presentation of training material and working with engineering to implement new products/features required to meet the customers needs.

As one of a team of program managers I was responsible for ensuring the on time/budget delivery of NPI projects and facilitating communications between different teams, suppliers and other stakeholders. This included managing engineering backlogs, facilitating discussions between vendors and engineering, tracking progress on multiple sub-projects, managing risks and expectations and progress reporting.

This role involved working closely with end customers as well as global sales and engineering teams to ensure that we continued to build on our strong product offering within the wind industry and provide value to both our customers and the company. The role involved defining the scope/requirements for new products/features, prioritising development backlogs, overseeing the development work and acting as the voice of the customer for the engineering teams which were based in NZ and China.

Providing technical advice to customers and internal staff as well as working with customers to identify, and document, the requirements for development of new applications and supporting tools. My software development background allowed me to work closely with the R&D team to ensure that these requirements were met and a quality product delivered.This role also included providing training and support for the Turningpoint wind turbine condition based monitoring system, upgrading software and databases on multiple servers, travelling to various wind farm sites in the US to physically install and configure servers and communications equipment, and troubleshooting problems with the monitoring systems.As part of my time in this role I also spend 3 months based just out of Chicago, IL, working directly with one of our key customers to ensure they were getting the maximum value from their system through training and technical support.

Commtest Instruments was a Global leader in developing and producing vibration analysis and monitoring instruments. Vibration analysis detects early precursors to failure, allowing machinery repair or replacement before expensive failures occur. Commtest was recognised as delivering innovative solutions which delivered real value to the customer.In this role I was initially the sole test engineer within the R&D department and was responsible for the manual testing of software and firmware for a wide range of products as well as being involved in the design of new products and features. The role later grew to leading a team of several test engineers as well as customer support and documentation. As the development team grew we also moved towards test automations as well as implementing more agile development methodologies.

Initially starting with Tait Electronics as an electronics technician on the production line, I later moved in to R&D where I was responsible for software testing of new mobile radio products and features. This evolved in to one in which I was part of a small team who focused on the development and support of automated test systems, primarily using National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand, as well as managing test lab facilities and equipment.
