Joining Trotec in 2010 I'm responsible for supporting our customers across London & the South East. With more than two decades of wide-ranging experience of laser systems under my belt, I can bring this to the table with free pre and post-sale consultancy. I have a proven track record in helping our customers increase their efficiency, make them more profitable, and in becoming more creative with laser technology.A qualified engineer (HNC) by trade I have enjoyed a career in sales and marketing within the marking, cutting, and engraving industry for more than 30 years.Having enjoyed the benefit of "being there" as technology unfolded has given me relevant practical experience across a huge range of applications.At the onset of computer-assisted engraving/marking, I was responsible for demonstrating, installing and supporting this exciting new technology to UK trade and manufacturing sectors. Seeing significant benefits in the emerging Windows platform I formed a manufacturing business (Cipher Systems), before merging with Suregrave in the nineties (at this time the largest independent engraving machine and supplies company in the UK).Exploiting a gap in education/technology markets for open, high-performance CAM systems I become a shareholder and partner following our successful MBO. I held the position of Sales & Marketing Director until the business was purchased by Trotec Laser in 2010.Assisting with marketing to the introduction of Trotec Laser to the UK market our strong corporate brand rapidly expanded and I returned to a regional sales and support role in 2012; opening our regional office & showroom in Guildford Surrey to develop and support business across London & the South East. Today we have the largest range of laser marking, cutting & engraving equipment available to demonstrate "under one roof" in the S.E. including the Rayjet and Speedy laser lines, large format lasers, and hmarking systems.Key skills:• Communicate and negotiate effectively at all business levels.• Provide support from inception to production,• Resourceful, organised and professional.• Work well under pressure, finding solutions through analysis and proving through trial• Work well within a team or in a stand-alone role.• Good communicator with the ability to decrypt machinery into basic operational terms.• Computer literature, with Office software, CAD, DTP & Machining specific programs.

Managing DirectorCipher Systems Limited Jan 1989 - Apr 1994Gomshall, SurreyBecoming aware of the possibilities of Windows o/s I set out with an partner to produce a range of industrially capable, open architecture engraving systems under the trade name Cipher.During this short period we developed and introduced the first commercial engraving system capable of processing a full sheet of flexible engraving laminate (1220 x 610mm) A complete line of Cipher engravers were developed and striking a partnership with Cadlink to distribute and develop sales of their EngraveLab package ensured Cipher were the first true open architecture engravers available in Europe.Cipher enjoyed many other technological wins in terms of performance and productivity.This was a busy and profitable partnership until the collapse of currency values ensured UK products were uncompetitive in export markets. Wanting to provide Cipher’s supply line with continuity of business I approached engraving materials with a view to rebrand the engravers replacing an aged and uncompetitive Dahlgren line and grow the UK market under a strong consumables brand.
