Carly Lorente is the creator of herstory_collective, an archetypal counsellor/astrologer (20 years), with a BA Health Science ND, adv. dip. Naturopathy+Nutritional Medicine. She studied writing at the Australian Writer's Centre+film at AFTRS, and has worked with various groups of women around the world using plants, planets and storytelling as a medicinal tool for healing, specifically working with trauma rehabilitation. She is a fierce+committed ally to First Nations storytelling.As a writer, filmmaker+photographer; Carly is passionate about reconciling the maternal and the erotic nature of women, with the earth; on screen.With a professional background and training in mental health, and sex+intimacy coaching, her star-aligned stories explore themes of ecology, mothering, decolonisation, spirituality and sexuality through a mixed narrative of words and images, both moving and still. Her work has been published in various Australian and international press including Archer, Mindfood, The Sunday Telegraph, Green, Wellbeing, Le Figaro and numerous anthologies. She was also the inaugural winner of Editia Books Longford narrative journalism award (2016).Carly has been the recipient of various Screenworks initiatives including In The Writer’s Room (2015) Writing for TV (2018), a Creative Factual mentorship with (2020) and a participant in the Australians in Film Write from Home (2021) for her feature screenplay Wild Mother, loosely based on the true story of her time in Central Australia, and many decades living + working alongside First Nations women around the world.Her documentary short The Everything Girls is a snapshot into the heroines’ lives at a regional brothel. Carly wrote, produced + directed her first narrative short film Hiraeth in 2020, about a single mother who returns to the wildness of her body, through the body of the earth. In addition to creating the Heroine’s Journey Thru the Zodiac, Carly has taught the heroine’s journey for screen.
