Having been a member of the Network of Women Chairs for a number of years, in 2023 I stepped up to the Chair position, taking over from the founder Dorothy Dalton. The Network is an inclusive and informal network for female Chairs and Vice Chairs of voluntary organisations in the UK. It aims to share experiences and learning through networking with fellow women Chairs and Vice Chairs of not-for-profit Committees and Boards in the UK, thereby improving charity governance.The Network encourages:• Women from all ethnic and social groups, and of all ages to become Trustees, Chairs and Vice Chairs.• Members to apply to be Chairs and Vice Chairs of larger and more high-profile charities thus improving the gender balance in the sector.• Education, learning and sharing of good practice.

The NHS Genomics Ethics, Equity and Legal Advisory Group provides expertise to consider ethical and legal themes within the NHS Genomic Medicine Service (GMS) while also ensuring that the NHS GMS provides equitable access to all patients. The group considers the end-to-end pathway, from the identification of patients for testing and access to services to the point of returning results and downstream care, as well as on research and innovation activity and the identification of appropriate data sets to inform a health inequalities analysis of NHS GMS activity.

The Journal of Commerce magazine, by S&P Global, is produced by a team of specialised, subject-matter expert journalists providing original daily news analysis of international logistics for corporate logistics teams and other participants in global supply chains. I am the writer for the contemporary component of Lloyd's Register Foundation's SHE_SEES project, introducing 21 professional women working within a range of maritime roles in the UK. SHE_SEES is part of the pivotal 'Rewriting women into maritime history’ project. This project is collating the material that is spread across archives beginning with the UK & Ireland, and then spreading internationally from 2024 so that accounts of women in the shipping industry can be identified and placed in the public domain for the first time.

I am the Editor for the Mission to Seafarers' The Sea publication, the Mission's bi-monthly maritime newspaper, published for seafarers. It contains the latest news and insights from the shipping industry as well as practical information, and is one of the most widely read and popular maritime newspapers among working seafarers. Each issue brings the latest shipping news and welfare issues directly to seafarers travelling across the world, helping to keep them connected with the industry while at sea.

Carmar Media's editorial and design services were contracted to establish and manage the production of the inaugural IACS Annual Review in 2017 and since then we have continued to work closely with IACS on subsequent publications. My editorial role with IACS has also involved writing policy papers, press releases and researching information for the production of infographics.

At Breakbulk magazine, I work with the editorial director to develop story ideas, including special reports and projects, which I use to create story lists for each issue. The role includes interaction with freelance writers to assign stories, with regular follow up to help guide research and writing and to ensure writers meet deadline goals. Once copy is submitted, I perform the first read/edit of submitted content to confirm that the goals and directions of assignments have been met. I then work closely with our designer to transfer the copy onto the page in an engaging manner, performing detail proofing at every stage of production. As part of this role, I also attend some of the key Breakbulk events around the world to network, brand build and report from these world-leading exhibitions and conferences.

Port Strategy is a monthly international ports and terminals magazine, aimed at top executives in the industry. As Editor, I was responsible for the direction of the magazine, ensuring that the content remains fresh, informative and on-topic for its 6,000+ international readers.

I have written a number of bespoke maritime training courses for the ICS, ranging from one-day introductory level courses for new entrants to the industry to specialist longer courses for blue chip maritime businesses.I have also delivered these courses and others around the world on behalf of the ICS and designed a suite of teaching materials to allow the course to be delivered by other trainers when necessary.

I have worked with international insurance specialist Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty on a number of editorial projects since 2012. After interviewing AGCS specialists, I edited and supplemented a safety study in 2012, marking 100 years since the Titanic disaster. Since then, I have researched and written a number of safety reports and risk bulletins, including safety risk bulletins from 2012-2016, a supply chain risk bulletin in 2012 and a bulletin to co-incide with the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Panama Canal.Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty is the Allianz centre of expertise for global business insurance and large corporate and specialty risks.
