At Breakbulk magazine, I work with the editorial director to develop story ideas, including special reports and projects, which I use to create story lists for each issue. The role includes interaction with freelance writers to assign stories, with regular follow up to help guide research and writing and to ensure writers meet deadline goals. Once copy is submitted, I perform the first read/edit of submitted content to confirm that the goals and directions of assignments have been met. I then work closely with our designer to transfer the copy onto the page in an engaging manner, performing detail proofing at every stage of production. As part of this role, I also attend some of the key Breakbulk events around the world to network, brand build and report from these world-leading exhibitions and conferences.
