I love photography and so run this alongside my full-time position as a Marine Geoscientist with BGS. I specialise in landscape work, and have had photographs illustrate two science based pieces in journals in Australia, one on the Arctic and Cape Farewell project, and one on Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territories. I travel to take photographs, and enjoy documenting the world around me. 2017 will not only see my first exhibition, but also a journey into Chernobyl to document how the area is recovering after the nuclear accident of 1986. I can't wait!

I work as the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) Outreach Manager on behalf of the International Ocean Discovery Program, promoting multi-million dollar scientific research expeditions. I also work with industry / energy companies leading integration of geological, geophysical and geotechnical datasets on behalf of BGS on offshore renewable projects. I have a keen interest in glacial and post-glacial climate and environments, including glacial deformation and its impact on geotechnical properties of soils, and Holocene pollution and environmental change records in lacustrine environments. I co-supervise 6 PhD students and am active in developing BGS business development and links with both Industry and Academia in order to further the reach and impact of world-class scientific research into the marine environment. I am also very enthusiastic about scientific communication, and relaying the science that we do to the general public, in specific school children.

I ran my own lighting design company specialising in opera and dance, following graduating from Central School of Speech and Drama in 1992 with a degree in Theatre Design and a postgraduate award specialising in Lighting.

I was responsible for the running (staffing, budgets, programming and development of the community programme) for a 320 seat Community Theatre. The theatre also had three meetings rooms that were regularly rented out, a 60 seat bistro area, bar and gallery hosting monthly exhibitions.
