In 2000, Carol started her business Living Images by Carol Walker, specializing in photographing horses. Carol’s images illuminate the relationship between horses and their people, as well showcase the beauty of horses with her stunning images of horses at liberty. She teaches workshops for amateur photographers on equine photography. Her commercial work includes catalogue covers for leaders in the Equine industry. She has had numerous calendars published featuring her work, and she markets her fine art prints from her website www.LivingImagesCJW.com as well as in several locations on the Front Range of Colorado. Four years ago, Carol began photographing wild horses. As she followed several herds in Wyoming, Colorado and Montana, she became aware of how precarious their situation on public lands has become. Since then, she has dedicated herself to educating people with her photographs and stories about the wild horses. Her book Wild Hoofbeats: America’s Vanishing Wild Horses is available at www.WildHoofbeats.com. The book was released winter of 2008 and is currently in its second printing.

Painted Hills Publishing began last year with the release of Wild Hoofbeats: America's Vanishing Wild Horses by Carol Walker and the 2009 Wild Hoofbeats Companion Calendar. Currently, the company offers the book and the new Cloud Foundation 2010 Calendar, plus the Wild Hoofbeats Screensaver and DVD Slideshow for sale.

I have a website, www.wildhoofbeats.com that is dedicated to saving America's Wild Horses and its goals are educating people about wild horse issues and how they can help our wild horses. There is a blog, and a news and alerts blog that people can sign up for to get up to date information, and a resources section so that they can find organizations that help wild horses. I was the owner of Foothills Equestrian Center in Longmont, Colorado and it was a horse boarding facility with 40 horses. I ran the facility, did the marketing, and took care of the horses, with 2 employees.

I worked as an intern psychologist at the student Counseling Center at Loyola Marymount University in Southern California.
