Accountable for developing and executing IFIC’s national corporate communications, government relations, media relations, member engagement and digital strategies to enhance the organization’s reputation as the authoritative voice of the investment funds industry.

Responsible for planning and executing proactive media relations, social media, public affairs and government relations programs, which effectively communicated the company’s strategies, products, initiatives and achievements. Provided corporate communications strategic advice and expertise that enabled the company to effectively address competitive, industry and business issues, including major transactions and new market entrants. Delivered an impactful formal internal communications program that helped the company achieve its goals and objectives, and fostered a culture of innovation and success.

Led the media relations function and spoke on behalf of TMX during complex transactions, including the Maple acquisition of TMX in 2012. Planned and executed the resulting internal integration activities, which helped to focus all employees on a shared vision. Launched the company’s government relations program, successfully positioning TMX with key federal and provincial ministries.

Accountable for developing and delivering effective marketing and proactive media relations programs to support Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV) in both Canada and the U.S. Responsible for the TMX internal communications program; key accomplishments included the integration of Montreal Exchange following its acquisition in 2008.

Provided marketing and proactive media relations support to TSX and TSXV as their business development teams sought to increase listing and equity trading activity.

Special Assistant (2003-2005):Developed a scheduling process and implementation plan, ensuring the Mayor’s time was used as effectively and efficiently as possible. Evaluated and selected opportunities based on strategies and priorities identified by the Mayor, and ensured the smooth execution of planned events.Campaign Staff (2002-2003):Undertook aggressive proactive media relations, public relations and volunteer communications programs that clearly and positively presented the candidate’s views and vision for Toronto. Developed and implemented an effective tour schedule process that successfully achieved the campaign’s objectives and strategies.

As leader, promoted awareness and understanding of Symcor through targeted media relations and speaking opportunities, which laid the groundwork for future public market activities. Broadened and strengthened the company’s internal communications program, which helped unify the company’s 4,000-person team around common goals and principles.

Built the communications and investor relations foundation of a start-up organization and worked to build, enhance and protect Tradewinds’ image and reputation through effective public and media relations programs.

Developed and executed comprehensive strategic communications and investor relations plans to help ensure the successful implementation of company initiatives. Helped the company raise more than $100 million in equity and $75 million in debt financing by guiding story development and creating roadshow presentations.
