Prospected for clients, sold radio time when some of them needed it, developed relationships with and signed up corporate and individual donors. Got a $25,000 client the first day with the first cold-call on the phone. Managed those clients on-air with our radio personalities.

At the same time I did freelance work, I also worked part-time as a diabetes educator for the State Dept. of Health, managing health fairs specific to diabetes, producing educational videos and booklets for the Indiana Association of Family Physicians, Indiana School Nurses, etc. on how to handle children and patients with diabetes. Again, won Telly Awards. Collaborated on print materials. In 2000 was offered the full-time position with WENS-FM.

Created statewide advertising campaigns, including video PSA's on AIDS, Ryan White, Mammograms for Mothers Day, and got stations to run them free. Wrote and produced numerous medical education videos - winning 3 Telly Awards. Initiated the first Black Expo Health Fair screening thousands of people. It still lives on today. Advised other divisions on their campaigns and crisis management when nursing homes had to be shut down, or during food borne outbreaks, or AIDS scares. Supervised 40, including the video production studio (wrote grant for), print shop, library, photolab, and Div. of Education.

Wrote, produced and edited health news stories and co-anchored the 6 and 11 p.m. news. Won a Casper Awards for series on colorectal cancer, and a year later another series on new advancements in cancer. Broke the Amy Brooks and Ryan White AIDS stories. Our newscasts went from 3rd place in the ratings to 1st place within a year.
