I am a physician, with a heart of code.When I first started my practice specializing in orthokeratology and myopia control, my team could not find a practice management software that suited our needs. So, with my computer engineering background, I developed an in-house SQL database solution. The experience reignited my passion to code, and I continued to develop a patient intake kiosk and a text messaging system for our practice. Wanting to improve my coding skills, I further pursued a master's degree in computational vision science. For my thesis, I developed and trained convolutional neural networks to model 3D shape perception in the visual cortex.The research led to my interest in neural networks and machine learning, and I continued to study these topics in the MITx MicroMasters program for Statistics and Data Science. Through various hands-on projects with large datasets, I learned and applied machine learning concepts such as supervised/unsupervised learning, recurrent neural networks, and reinforcement learning.Having completed the program, I'm convinced that the next step in my career lies in leveraging AI and deep learning to transform vision care, particularly in myopia management and orthokeratology. My goal is to revolutionize treatment strategies with AI-driven insights, offering personalized and effective solutions for halting myopia progression.I'm excited to embark on this journey to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and eye care advancement.
