About Carson Walker

I started a PhD program for Human Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University in August of 2022. Recently, I committed to study in Dr. Chuck Harrell's lab where I analyze breast cancer treatments in vitro and in patient derived xenograft mouse models. I work to improve cancer treatments for patients with Triple Negative Breast Cancer and to a lesser extent, ER+ breast cancer. Currently I am working with Antibody Drug Conjugates to complete our goal. In April of 2020 I graduated with my bachelor's degree from BYU in Genetics, Genomics, and Biotechnology. While studying, I worked part time in a genetics research lab at BYU. We studied the behavioral changes that microbiota effected on host organisms. Through these experiences I have learned invaluable lessons on planning, teamwork, and leadership. After graduating with my bachelor's degree, I worked full-time as a histotechnician in the anatomic pathology lab at Myriad Genetics. I learned many important lessons about human tumors and how they form, and I can't wait to learn more!
