I worked with engineers to develop a list of conditions, tests, samples and procedures to determine how the unavailable time was being accrued and made recommendations and implemented policies to correct Standard Operating Procedures, improve production and use availability. While working at the Cerrejon mine in Colombia, we completed assembly and delivery of 12 Hitachi dump trucks to compete with 12 Caterpillar dump trucks for a 100+ unit contract. The contract was awarded based upon availability, service and maintenance costs and production. We completed the assembly of all 12 trucks ahead of schedule and maintained a 96% availability and Hitachi was awarded the contract for over one hundred more units.
