Orient new graduate nurses to provide competent, safe patient care while reinforcing hospital protocols and policiesTeam Leader on a 39 and 34 bed cardiac/telemetry unit assisting floor nurses duties, enforcing protocols, determine scheduling needs Patient census consists of post cardiac catheterizations, post EP, cardiac arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, and pre coronary artery bypass graft patientsProvide educational information relating to patient disease process’ and pharmacology Expertise in providing care for hemodynamically unstable patients with titrated medication drips: Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Heparin: also including Dobutamine pumpIdentify unit weaknesses and utilize evidence-based research to improve nurse and patient safetyAccommodate and float to ICU and med-surg units that are short staffed and require additional assistance

Patient care including vitals, hygiene, blood glucose, ambulation Unit secretary: directing phone calls, complete medical orders, call patient consults Travel technician: transfer patients on telemetry monitoring to procedures Monitor technician: analyze rhythms, document and report to RN, maintain equipment

Identify a need for and assist in the development of geriatric education materials based on GIAP (Geriatric Institutional Assessment Profile) surveyProvide input into the development of geriatric related policies and proceduresDisseminate information about geriatric care to nurses and interdisciplinary staff through unit in-service presentations and direct consultation/support at the bedside Promote collaboration with the interdisciplinary staff in planning and promoting alternative practices in geriatric care management Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to promote NICHE in all units with a predominant geriatric patient population while transitions to a Stage 3: Senior Friendly facility

Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher Provide care to students from pediatric to adolescent age, administer medications, adjust diabetic insulin pumps, activity related injuries, and emergency medical allergies/diseases Offer one to one support and de-escalation techniques for students with personal dilemmas
