To her, delivering great work on time is merely a hygiene factor. Everything just works. Professionally honest, no bullshit, tons of genuine smiles. As a designer and illustrator, she delivers beautiful work and stays until the gap between "good" and "great" has been closed. Her personal touch to the work is always appreciated by coworkers and clients alike. In addition, she is a problem solver like no other. Her resource management and human management skills are exceptional, and I'd like to share a little anecdote of something that she did at Geelmuyden Kiese's graphic department. We had problems with resource utilization among our graphic designers. Some working way too much, some just sitting there waiting for material from project managers, and some being bombarded with requests even though their plates were full. We discussed buying software, adopting methods like Scrum, forcing project managers to report work in a form, etc., etc.. But Cathleen had a different idea. She cut out big coloured slips of paper, one colour per designer. She wrote down every delivery and deadline pr. project, and hung them up on a whiteboard next to the designers. While this is not necessarily revolutionary, it effectively solved the issues we had. All you had to do to get an overview of the workload and availability of designers was to cast an eye on the whiteboard. No online log-ins to Basecamp or Sharepoint, no waiting for answers on e-mails, no questions to busy designers about why they were busy. No unnecessary project management. All the information, beautifully organised in one place, communicated in less than 10 seconds without disturbing anyone. Oh, and did I mention she just did it, without asking, probing, asking for help or anything? She just did, so that we all could get on with our day and get more shit done. Beautiful."
