A FREE aviation educational event for the community, a time to inspire future pilots and bring back memories for veteran aerospace workers and pilots. This is a Historic Aircraft Display Day for all aircraft 35 years or older, but also welcome are homebuilt aircraft and one of a kind flying machines. This successful event is embraced by not only pilots and aircraft owners, but by non-aviation citizens, as well. They are learning the advantages of General Aviation and their own community airport, that is paid for by taxpayers money.

The men in my life, including my father and three bothers, all worked on and around aircraft. I had my first airplane ride in a 40-horse T-Craft that my oldest brother recovered. He traded a Cushman motor scooter and some money for the airplane in pieces and in need of recover. I could hardly wait for him to get it flying! I was 4 when he finally took me flying and I was hooked. Always looked at the world from above. Flying was always my main goal in life. I saw my first helicopter at the age of 4 also. Uh-oh - had to do that too! My first husband's father restored airplanes (Luscombe's, Super Cubs, UPF-7's, etc.) and I learned to rib-stich and do fabric work with him.Later in life I met and married Al Hansen, received my multi-engine rating and helicopter rating. Guess I have checked off most of the items on my bucket list. I am very blessed.

Worked on the first Air Races in 1969 helping Darryl Greenamyer and his team; worked on air races in 1970-1972 as well. Learned to fly at Fox Field, but always flew to Mojave. Was thrilling to be in the same sky as the Sabres that Flight Systems were converting to drones. Seemed a natural to run for the airport board. Lost the first election by 5 votes, didn't know I could demand a recount then, in retrospect, I should have done that. Made me more determined to win the next election in 1995. Organized the 25th anniversary party for EKAD in 1997 and the 75th anniversary event for Mojave Airport in 2010. Initiated the plaque honoring the USMC air crews who served at Marine Corps Air Station Mojave in 1996 and the plaque honoring Dan Sabovich, first General Manager of East Kern Airport District.
