Richmond SHRM (RSHRM) is an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management. With a membership exceeding 1400, RSHRM is 18th largest chapter nationwide. As RSHRM enters its 65th year of operation, my duty is to provide leadership to the chapter board as we work in collaboration to grow and support our membership and meet the needs of HR Professionals, students, employers and business partners in Richmond, VA and surrounding areas.

Provides internal consulting, research, and project management in order to establish and carry out departmental goals and objectives related to Fire Department Budgeting, Capital Improvement Planning, Fleet Analysis, Facilities, and Community Risk Reduction.Special Project Manager/Administrator focusing on Facilities Management and Capital Project Coordination. Serves as a liaison to building management; coordinates and monitors building maintenance and security needs for 21 locations within the City of Richmond. Plans, coordinates and monitors activities of assigned projects to develop and implement procedures, processes and systems for multi-disciplinary work group.Project Manager/Department Liaison - Assists in the design review of proposed construction to ensure conformity to Fire Department standards and guidelines. Projects include: Station 8, 19, 20 & 21 renovations (programming phase), Fire Training Tower Replacement (design phase), Station 10 renovation (completed Jan 2015), Station 13 renovation (completed Dec 2014), RFD Station 17 Construction and staff relocation (completed Nov 2013), RFD HQ Relocation, Burn Building repairs, and ADA upgrades.

Provide contributory analytic intelligence support to the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Afghanistan-Pakistan Task Force, and Cyber Threat Analysis units. Served on Active Duty status providing interim Human Resources support of Detachment 2 and the 3100th Strategic Intelligence Group Headquarters. Facilitate personnel finance, military record and training actions including service member in-processing, payroll, record corrections/updates, travel vouchers and requests for orders. Coordinate reserve augmentee selection and placement with national-level intelligence community customers to meet DoD project/program requirements. Participated in multiple tours at the MIRC in support of National Capital Region training exercises.

Served as Personnel Officer to a 400+ member fire and EMS department providing recruitment, retention, EEO, and HR Generalist support.Led full-cycle recruitment processes for civilian and sworn positions, facilitating firefighter staffing increase by 65%. Served as the department’s liaison to the County HR Administration Office.Planned and implemented the Metro Richmond IAFF/IAFC Candidate Physical Ability Test, coordinating staffing and conducting training of over 100 proctors and instructors from four fire service agencies (Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield and City of Richmond).Reduced hiring timeline by three months by applying standard project management concepts and tools and coordinating activities with internal and external business partners.Prepared cognitive and functional assessment centers for promotional candidates to the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, and Battalion Chief, including training for both candidates and assessors.
