As the Systems Engineer for this collection agency, I was tasked with reducing the IT footprint both physically and financially while improving the efficiency of daily operations and maintaining regulatory compliance status. I accomplished this in several ways: I moved the majority of the workforce to thin clients to use VMware Horizon VDIs, eliminating the need to replace six-year-old PCs. The VDIs were standardized and could be spun-up in less than 30 minutes when new compute resources were needed. The on-prem phone system was replaced with a hosted VoIP solution, eliminating an end-of-life product that has costly repair, replacement, and service costs. I implemented Active Directory self-service for password recovery and account unlocking to reduce the time a collector was unable to make phone calls due to password issues. The VMware footprint was reduced by 25%, consolidating services and eliminating duplicate services such as a large legacy Novell environment. A new, easily managed Disaster Recovery plan was implemented using Zerto Virtual Replication and a DRaaS provider. This project alone reduced the monthly IT expenditure by 83%.All services, from AV, DR, and Self-Service to thin-client management are now centrally managed, allowing any member of the IT team to easily and quickly support the day to day operations with minimal time and effort.

As the Service Desk Manager I managed a team of 18 technicians spread out through Colorado, providing IT support to Managed IT Services customers. While supervising the team I also provided Tier 2 support for desktop, server, and network issues on Windows 7 and 10 desktops, Server 2008, 2012, and 2016, Citrix, VMware, and Active Directory environments. I was able to lower the customer attrition rate to under 10% per month by improving the CSAT by 30% and a 71% reduction of open tickets. I designed and implemented project hand-off procedures to endure successful Day-One support for customers.
