Insuring the continued operation was vital to supporting 24/7 operations. Even more important was the high state of compliance to Army and DoD standards that Chad insured network devices, user and testing systems were maintained to. The ability to interpret and apply the standards to operational systems without interrupting or degrading operations cannot be taken lightly and Chad insured neither requirement was ignored. He often adjusted his schedule to apply patches, upgrade operating systems, various applications or conduct network reconfiguration to avoid impacting operations. Because of his attention to detail the RCERT-CONUS received high scores on all network inspections conducted by various higher commands during his tenure. What was most impressive was based on his complete understanding of the standards, network configuration, threat space and countermeasures, on more then one occasion he was able to show inspectors how and why the standard was incorrect or incomplete and the corrections required to meet the intent of the standard. This not only changed a negative grade to a positive grade during the inspection but was the base for changes to the overall standard that were then applied to Department of Defense compliance inspections. Given his vast knowledge, skills and insight a position as a Penetration Tester was an easy call. He quickly mastered the applications, procedures and techniques becoming an outstanding asset to this mission. His understanding of vulnerabilities, computing devices and network functions combined to identify areas of concern, testing methods and finally solutions. Chad freely provided assistance to fellow team members, increasing their abilities. Chad also insured that the admins of tested networks understood the reports provided and the methods/actions to protect the network. Quite simply, Chad is an outstanding asset to any team, company, or group that he supports. Kathleen M. Buonocore", "I've worked with Chad for many years when he was with Boecore.
