For the last seven or eight years, I've had the pleasure of tutoring undergraduate logic, math, and computer science students to many great successes. I've had the rare opportunity to identify the dreams of others, discover their foundations, and assist them in building a pathway from where they stood to where they wanted to go.All the while, I've explored a math degree, a psychology degree, and now a computer science degree to understand the language of science, the behavior of people, and the tools of our greatest technology. The process of tutoring gave me an insight into how to explore the process of learning for myself, and I'm always excited to share what I've learned.For ten years, I've programmed on projects off and on ranging from compiler work to productivity application development. Database work, computer graphics, and optimization are addicting. Many pet projects have come from tangents in discussions, assignments for school, or as delivery mechanisms for entertainment among friends. The projects on which I've worked and the people with whom I've had the pleasure of collaborating have each left something with me. Techbundle taught me the value of documentation both of time, and of process. I learned that open dialogue across skill groups leads to rapid, adaptable, and powerful solutions to problems otherwise insurmountable individually. There is no substitute for patience in working with those enduring the stresses of a difficult problem. Vector Marketing taught me to come out of my shell and get to know the people around me. The world is full of people all struggling to find their place and realize their potential. Everyone adapts to life's challenges differently, and there's something to learn from each of them.The CKC Knowledge Center taught me the truth behind the saying 七転八起. We must sometimes fall seven times and stand up eight. The first rise is done in knowing that there will be seven falls to follow, and another comes after each fall thereafter. Let's stand to make mistakes, learn from them, and carry forward those lessons. If we fail quickly, we'll learn even faster. Perseverance, communication, honest practices, and good people can move mountains in tandem.As for me, perhaps we'll have time to discuss that over a game of Go and a cup of either tea or coffee. I should tell you up front that I'm not terribly interesting, but I'm always looking for a new challenge to overcome.
