Charles Linsmeier is Executive Vice President, General Manager at Macmillan Learning, serving as head of editorial and publishing strategy for the higher education, high school, and enterprise markets. Previously, he was senior vice president and head of the humanities & social science and the AP high school publishing programs. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico, majoring in economics & English, and his master’s degree in political science from the City University of New York. He joined Macmillan in 2000. Prior to serving in senior leadership, he was a sales representative, earning sales rep of the year honors; a regional product specialist; an editor on the market-leading psychology list; and publisher of economics. He has been fortunate to work directly with high-profile economists including Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman, John Bates Clark award winner Steven Levitt, former members of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers Greg Mankiw, Austan Goolsbee, Alan Krueger, and Betsey Stevenson, as well as Jonathan Gruber, Tyler Cowen, and Justin Wolfers; and notable psychologists including David Myers, Daniel Schacter, Daniel Gilbert, Susan Nolan, and Robert Siegler. He has worked on various new educational technology products, including Macmillan’s Achieve, LaunchPad, Sapling Learning, and FlipIt learning platforms, involving initiatives focused on student engagement and motivation, economic and science literacy, and evidence-based learning.
