The Group initially comprised a series of passive investment portfolios totalling £150m which are being subjected to widespread asset management and to which commercial and residential development projects and alternative non property investments have been added.Responsibility for:• Overhaul of existing practices to achieve best practice and work with “best in class” consultants across all aspects of the business and disciplines;• Overall Group strategy and risk management; • Delivery of shareholder objectives and reporting to the Board;• Increasing the Group’s exposure to different sectors via the creation of a residential development pipeline;• Introducing the Group to commercial development;• Introducing the Group to working in joint venture.• Leading a team to source/evaluate property development and investment opportunities.• Leading a team to effectively asset manage the Group’s portfolios.• Leading a team to develop, refurbish, asset manage, let and sell completed commercial and residential developments and investments via private treaty and auction.UK wide Key projects include:• Disposal of Secondary Portfolio - 55 high street properties, exit value £25m; • Negotiated purchases and disposals totalling c. £50m of commercial property;• Retail & Leisure Park, Scotland - Managed all aspects of a pre-let retail and leisure development anchored by two major retailers; • Scottish Residential Development Joint Venture - Sites secured and the development of 400 + houses in Fife.

Responsibility for:• Overall company strategy and risk management;• Delivery of shareholder objectives and reporting to the Board and joint venture partners from both the public and private sector;• Financial arrangements including property valuations, negotiating debt finance and joint venture / partnership agreements;• Creating a pipeline of development and investment opportunities by managed phasing;• Sourcing/evaluating property development and investment opportunities;• Developing/refurbishing/asset managing, letting and ultimately selling completed commercial developments and investments.UK-wide Key projects included:• Speculatively developed 200,000 sq ft of office and industrial accommodation in three phases, c.£9m; • Managed all aspects of the three phased speculative development of a 200,000 sq ft office/ industrial business park in joint venture with Investment Manager, £25m;• Local Authority Regeneration Partner. Mixed-use land assembly, planning and construction projects with significant public and private stakeholder involvement; • Managed all aspects of the conversion of a 36 acre owner occupied industrial complex into a multi tenanted office / industrial business park in Joint Venture with Investment Manager, £35m;• Non-Executive Director for Childcare business- Responsible for all property matters, £8m;• Mixed-use land assembly and planning with significant public and private stakeholder involvement - 90,000 sq ft superstore, new medical centre and employment buildings with Supermarket’s consultants;• Purchase and sale of headquarters office / industrial facility, comprising 100,000 sq ft logistics space and 30,000 sq ft office accommodation, c.£15m;• Purchase and asset management of mixed office and industrial investment portfolio, together with 23 acres of office and industrial development land, £15m;• Barlows Property Portfolios Negotiated purchases and disposals totalling c.£250m of commercial property.

Specifically responsible for all property matters from site finding/acquisition to obtaining planning permissions and developing out sites but also involved in establishing company policy and operational strategy.

Predominantly dealt with rental and capital valuations, rent review, lease renewal and rating appeal negotiations gaining particular exposure to High Street, shopping centre, food and out-of-town property on behalf of clients such as Kwik Save, Iceland Frozen Foods, Greggs, Stead & Simpson and MFI as well as offices and industrial accommodation.
