Since before I started my career as an Avionics Technician in the United States Marine Corps I have always had a passion for computers and technology. It has been one of my life long hobbies that has drove me in my decision to move on from aviation and pursue a new career in software development. In 2020 I left my position as an Avionics Lead Technician so that I could pursue a degree in software engineering and begin the transition. Just under a year and a half later I found myself with a degree in hand and exploring the many options for what I could do with it. In the Fall of 2022 I took on a project building a web application for Elevation Business Consulting as a solo contractor, going in with very little experience in web development. I accepted this challenge because I knew it would push me to learn more and since starting, I have gained experience with multiple languages and concepts. Because of the fundamental similarities between the logic used in complex electrical systems and computer programming I feel that I have a lot of useful experience that translates very well for my new found career. Software development also brings many new challenges that allow me to fully utilize my passions for problem solving and finding new ways to innovate. I am very happy with my decision to move into software development and I look forward to the many challenges that lie ahead.
