Technical lead responsible for the integration, testing and turn up of a multivendor platform for providing broadband (Voice, Video and Data) service over VDSL for GTE’s VISION-one trial. Consisted of constructing an end to end system which gathered the video and data content and conditioned it for transport to the consumer over the local loop. System consisted of MPEG encoders, ATM switches, routers advanced DSLAMs and gateways for the delivery of service to the customer premise. Involved interfacing the system to Business Support Systems and Operational Support systems for monitoring and provisioning of the systems. System involved many different technologies, HW/SW platforms, and protocols such as MPEG2, ATM, SONET, TCP/IP, xDSL, UNIX, Oracle, and SNMP.Design and test of a two way Hybrid Fiber Coax Network for the transport of analog and digital video signals, broadband, voice, and interactive data traffic. Involved with FCC proof of performance tests. Worked with interfaces to MPEG equipment in addition to QAM and QPSK and VSB modulation. Design of radio cellular telecommunications system for use in commercial aviation. Conducted trade studies in RF technologies, network designs, transmission technologies, different industry standards (FAA, Bellcore, CCITT, FCC) and user features. Involved trouble shooting Hardware, Software and System problems in the lab and the field and working for solutions with the different subcontractors. Monitored vendor performance to insure vendor's approach was consistent with overall system design. Negotiated agreements between vendors with technical difference whose equipment were part of the system. Design of fiber optic systems for military and commercial applications involving trade-off of link budget performance, fiber technologies, reliability and transmitter and receiver technologies.
