About Chris Bianco
Hello! I’m a mechanical engineer that loves to design things both mechanical and electrical. I have six years of professional experience as a mechanical design engineer and a lifetime of various hobby projects under my belt.I have a background designing and validating:Vibration attenuation mechanisms for on-orbit exercise equipmentCrew-facing hardware for daily useEVA space suit components (life support)Electric powertrains for transport refrigerationGas/electric vehicles (transaxles, steering, frames, seats)Liquid and air cooling systemsStructural mounting and packagingDrone avionics and power systemsRefrigerant systems (current generation and low GWP)I’m capable of guiding a project through its full lifecycle:Conception and requirementsDesign and analysis (3D modeling and 1D/3D analysis)Prototyping (Rapid and tooled)Component testingSystem testingFinal approval and releaseCurrently, I’m developing the Vibration Isolation System (VIS) for the Axiom Station exercise equipment. Before that, I supported NASA Johnson Space Center in its mission to return to the moon through the Artemis Program. I delivered the prototype of the component that removes gas and particle contaminants from the air ventilation loop of the xEMU suit for clean air return to the astronaut. My first role out of college was with Trane Technologies (formerly Ingersoll Rand). I supported multiple business units during my time in the rotational program:At Club Car, I worked on gas/electric vehicles, rotating mechanisms and vehicle dynamics. At Thermo King, I led the thermal and structural subsystem design of an electrified version of a core product platform. At Trane, I worked with variable speed outdoor units, low GWP refrigerants and other upcoming safety/ efficiency regulations that offer unique mechanical and refrigeration design challenges. Outside of my professional career, I enjoy rock climbing and working on hobby projects. In the past, I’ve built butcher block coffee tables, stone speaker stand, a mobile kitchen island, etc. Recently, I’ve been designing version 2 of my quadcopter design and radio controller. My main focuses are on weight reduction, flight stability and overall aesthetics.I also enjoy designing parts and 3D printing them with PLA/PETG on my modified Ender 3 Pro. Recent designs include test stand assemblies for my drone, a coupler to help electrify my manual coffee grinder, floor protectors for furniture pieces and custom Xbox controller parts.
Listed skills include Solidworks, Matlab, Microsoft Office, Arduino, and 11 others.
