Responsibility for the day to day operation of the Westnet RegionalNetwork, the NFSNet Regional covering the Mountain West states. The network covered about 700 dedicated line sites, including all major universities in the region. Supervision, training, and hiring of NOC operators. 2nd and last level of escalation for NOC. Design and operation of network monitoring tools coordination with national networking organizations (such as NSPs, MERIT, CIX, etc.). Representing Westnet in national technical bodies such as NANOG and IETF. Acting as expert for TCP/IP networking questions in the region to campus level Network Engineers, getting new sites connected to the Internet including router configuration, IP address allocation, DNS configuration, and advice about building a TCP/IP network. Running annual technical conference in the region. Design and implementation of regional network including capacity, circuit locations, and routing.
