About Chris Mack

After working for eight years in lithography R&D at the National Security Agency, I developed the lithography simulation software PROLITH, and founded and ran the company FINLE Technologies for ten years (1990-2000). After overseeing the acquisition of FINLE by KLA-Tencor, I served as Vice President of Lithography Technology for KLA-Tencor for five years, until 2005. In 2003 I received the SEMI Award for North America for my efforts in lithography simulation and education and in 2009 received the SPIE Frits Zernike Award for Microlithography. I am a fellow of SPIE and IEEE and am also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2012 I become Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Micro/Nanolithography, MEMS, and MOEMS (JM3).In 2005 I left the corporate world and become a Gentleman Scientist. Currently, I write, teach, and consult on the fields of semiconductor microlithography, optics, and statistics in Austin, Texas. I also work regularly as an expert witness.In 2017, I co-founded Fractilia, developing software for the accurate measurement of the roughness of nanometer-scale features from SEM images.
