As a native to Colorado I have lived the awesome growth and development this state has seen. My vision of Colorado is a place that can continue that growth and development while retaining its personality and sense of community.To get there we must plan for an adequate water supply. We know that Colorado will double its population by the year 2050. And we know that we cannot plan our water supply for the next 5 million people the way we did the first. It will require an all-of-the-above approach in water planning. In my role professional, I will work with the larger water community to find ways to meet these challenges. These will include lobbying for increased outdoor residential water efficiency, increased agricultural water efficiency, new cooperative water storage projects, and agricultural/urban water sharing.To get there, we will also need to have an exceptional public education system. In my role as a parent of children just entering the public school system, I will help to achieve this through becoming active in the Parent Teacher Association and my local school board. Specifically, my education in the sciences gives me the opportunity to help our community’s children in embracing and understanding how the world works.
