Chris Sims brings to LP&L extensive institutional knowledge and background in electric utility administration, having served in various industry positions for over 28 years. He has successfully created new and led existing programs at LP&L during his industry career. In 1997, Sims began coordinating federal, state, and local compliance activities to become the Regulatory Compliance Department. The Department started with an Environmental Compliance Program for three electric power plants, and in 1998, it expanded to include transmission and distribution systems. A Health and Safety Program was added in 2000, followed by a Pipeline Safety Program and an Electric Reliability Program in 2010. In addition to Regulatory Compliance efforts, in 2005, Sims was named the Public Information Officer and began directing media, marketing, and website communications. Later, from 2008-2010, oversite of the Sales and Promotion Department was added to his duties. In 2020, Sims began directing a new program called Grid Control, combining existing control room operations, substation operations, energy management systems, and geographical information systems to prepare for the movement of LP&L from the Eastern to the Texas Interconnection. In 2023, LP&L returned the Grid Control Program to its existing structure, and Sims was tasked with creating a new Performance Improvement Department. This Department consists of data analytics, workforce change management, technology integration, and business continuity analysis functions to support Strategic Planning efforts. His current focus is on the strategic aspects of regulatory compliance, and performance improvement.Sims also has merger and acquisition experience and holds various educational degrees from multiple institutions. In 2010, he assisted with coordinating all media relations associated with the merger and acquisition of a competitor's electric distribution system, including over 23K customers. Beginning in 2021, he assisted in efforts to move 106K electric customers, including transmission, distribution, and generation assets from SPP to ERCOT. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Texas Tech University, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Lubbock Christian University, and a Master of Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University. With proven knowledge, skills, and abilities in electric utilities, Sims remains enthusiastic about LP&L's future and is grateful for the opportunity to help shape performance and strategic planning efforts.
