I have been at Hodgson Russ LLP since 1987. Hodgson Russ LLP is a general practice firm with offices in Buffalo (my HQ), New York City, Albany, Rochester, Saratoga Springs, Palm Beach, FL, Hackensack, NJ, Greensboro, NC , and Toronto (CAN). My practice concentrates on State and Local Tax planning and controversy defense, although I sometimes get involved in general business counseling and federal tax matters. My office is in Buffalo, but once every three weeks or so I work out of the firm's New York City office to better serve my New York City clients.I have represented clients with respect to many litigated tax matters, most of which may be found by searching under my name in one of the various legal (e.g. Lexis) or tax (e.g. RIA, CCH) databases.My mission is simple: to keep the government from taking any more of my clients' money than is strictly permitted under law.My practice includes tax planning and controversy representation regarding: New York State corporate franchise (income) taxes, New York City business taxes, New York sales tax, New York personal income tax residency and non-resident apportionment matters, New York State and City utility taxes, real property transfer taxes and government relations involving substantive tax issues.
