I'm currently director of communications at the Right Question Institute, an educational nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to building a more just and equitable democracy by strengthening people’s ability to ask questions and participate in decisions that affect them. I've spent most of my 22-year career working in communications, digital, print and TV journalism, content writing (primarily with educational organizations), and community engagement. I earned a master's degree in media and communications at City, University of London.In years past, some of my freelance clients included Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the city of Somerville, Massachusetts. As editor of Somerville Patch, I worked as a digital journalist, putting into practice new and evolving strategies for combining traditional shoe-leather reporting with new-media techniques to cover one of Massachusetts’ most vibrant communities.I have hands-on experience with nonprofit communications, content production and strategy, writing for the web, community journalism, social media management, web-metrics assessment, institutional messaging, news coverage, copyediting, editorial management (I managed a team of 10 freelancers) and online media.My journalism has appeared in Somerville Patch, Huffington Post, AOL.com, South End News, Bay Windows, Allston-Brighton TAB, Dover-Sherborn Press, Inside Lincoln Park, Inside, bostonherald.com and artandculture.com.
