Responsibilities* Leading Business Development activities for ESI Media Digital with a focus on international growth, analytics and optimisation* Programme management support of critical projects including site replatforming, page speed optimisation, eCommerce optimisation* Commercial responsibility for ESI’s key supplier relationships including news (pictures, text, video) agencies, tech and video platform providersAchievements* Created a framework to measure project success - identifying KPIs plus an automated monitoring system (using APIs, data viz tools etc) to ensure targets are met. Resulted in a recent project which is on track to deliver £1M of annual upside.* Developed strategic framework underpinning growth drive that has seen The Independent grow digital audience in the past 3 years from 50M-100M, from a digital newsroom of 40 to 100+ and from perennially loss making to profitable* Key role in renegotiating agency contracts after the closure of the Independent print edition, reducing agency costs by £1M (~2/3rds)* Commercial responsibility for online video infrastructure and strategy: reduced costs by 5x and moved video to key profit centre through supplier negotiations and RFPs, optimisation of monetisation and content focus* Negotiated ESI’s core tech supplier contracts: video, hosting, CDN etc* Coordinated launch of The Independent’s US operation in Jan 2015. From writing initial business plan, to negotiating revenue deals to setting up new offices. The US operation has grown from 1 to 16 people, US audience now exceeds UK audience, local revenues now exceed £2m/year* Evaluated strategy for next stages of international growth with a focus on India* Multiple further strategic projects including subscription strategy, eCommerce, yield analysis, overall growth
