CEO of NAIF, a $5 Billion Federal Government development agency focused on driving economic, community and indigenous outcomes across northern Australia, NAIF supported a range of sectors including energy, resources, agriculture, water, transport and social infrastructure. Northern Australia encompassed central and north Queensland, all of Northern Territory and northern Western Australia. Staffing of 40+ (FTE) across a range of functions with offices in Cairns, Darwin, Townsville, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney, with an opex budget of approximately $20m pa.I was brought in by the Board to lead and drive an enterprise wide change program across all facets of the business. A key focus was to reposition NAIF from being a conservative “infrastructure” lender to a pro-active development agency and financier working closely with stakeholders.Key Achievements: • Significant acceleration in NAIF’s investment activity, doubling its investment decisions from $1.6 Billion to $3.2 Billion (2019 to 2021), where it had only committed $1.6 Billion in the previous 4 years.• Secured a number of significant reforms to the NAIF Act and Mandate which was passed by Federal Parliament in May 2021.• Secured a significant increase in the 4 year forward looking opex budget for the organisation to support future growth.• Implemented a number of significant operational improvements across risk and compliance, financial reporting and people and culture practices.• Successfully navigated the business through the challenges arising from COVID.• Establishment of bi-partisan support across federal and state government departments and bodies, indigenous stakeholders, regional communities, councils and industry groups.• Supported a number of significant projects across the clean energy, resources, education, transport, agriculture and social infrastructure sectors.

A $500m fund established by Mirvac and the Clean Energy Financing Corporation (“CEFC”), involved in the development, construction and operation of Australia’s first ever Build to Rent investment platform, an innovative investment strategy to alleviate housing supply issues in Australia.I was involved in the initial structuring and development of the fund and was the inaugural Director and Investment Committee representative on behalf of the CEFC.

A $1 Billion fund established by Dexus to invest in healthcare assets across Australia. Investments included both acquiring existing investments and the development and construction of new healthcare assets. I was involved in the initial structuring and development of the fund and was the funds inaugural Chair of the Advisory committee, responsible for review of development/investment proposals, related party dealings and other advisory committee governance matters.

Key Achievements: • Built a completely new business and team and established the CEFC as a thought leader in clean energy and sustainability practices in the Australian property and infrastructure sectors.• Executed nearly $1.8 Billion of investment commitments to support a wide range of projects, businesses and initiatives. • Financed developments in the healthcare, affordable housing, retirement living, industrial, retail and office sectors.• Supported market leading initiatives including net zero carbon targets, new rating and sustainability tools and support for a greater focus on embodied emissions. • Established strong industry relationships with key industry partners such as the Property Council of Australia, Green Building Council of Australia and the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia. • Represented CEFC as a NED/Advisory Committee member on the Dexus Healthcare, Mirvac Build to Rent and EG funds

Involved in a number of strategic developments including regulatory submissions, M&A and financing strategy.

Key Achievements: • Repositioning and growth of AMP Capital’s Customised Account business, focused on investing capital on behalf of Australian superannuation funds.• Doubled funds under management to $3 Billion, contributing net income of approximately $15m pa. • Origination and execution of approximately $1 Billion of investments across a range of sectors including renewable energy (US wind), electricity and gas distribution (Power Co NZ), SA Schools (Social infrastructure PPP) and Melbourne Airport.• Represented investors as a NED on various companies (PowerCo NZ, Pinnacle Education, Melbourne Airport).

Chief Investment Officer for a $300m USD Pan Asian Infrastructure Fund based in Singapore. Member of the Asia Pacific senior leadership team. Key Achievements: • Launched and secured initial funding commitments for the $USD 300m Pan Asian Infrastructure Fund, despite GFC economic conditions. • Establishment of a cross jurisdictional team in India, Singapore and Hong Kong working across key sectors such as energy, transport and social infrastructure.• Represented investors as a NED on various companies (Melbourne Airport, Epic Energy, Hancock Victorian Plantations).

Key strategic initiatives included the significant growth in the unregulated business and associated funding arrangements, establishment of alliance contracting arrangements and regulatory submissions.

Airport Development Group owns and operates three Airports at Darwin, Alice Springs and Tenant Creek. Total asset value of approximately $1 Billion, with 100 FTE. Board Member, Member of the Finance and Treasury Sub Committee. Key strategic initiatives included the establishment and growth of the Airports non aeronautical (i.e. property) revenue and airline route diversification.

Total asset value of approximately $50m, with FTE (including O&M) of 50.Board Member, with strategic and governance initiatives including appointment/replacement of the CEO, renegotiation of the O&M arrangements, renegotiation of the NSW Government arrangements.
