Sally Ride EarthKAM is a NASA education project connecting a camera system on-board the International Space Station to middle school students’ worldwide. Responsible for systems architecture and systems administration for all technology related to the functions of Sally Ride EarthKAM, UCSD. Responsible for procedure development, employee management, budget development, facilities, and daily operations at UCSD needed to meet NASA function requirements. ▪ Perform systems architecture and administration for all IT at Sally Ride EarthKAM, including authorization, authentication, web, high availability, DNS, iSCSI, file, security, monitoring, backups, virtualization, and databases.▪ Install hardware and software and troubleshoot issues with workstations and servers in a heterogeneous operating system environment.▪ Develop policies, procedures, training, documentation for the project as well as managing staff. ▪ Manage all vendors, processes, and systems required to install, maintain, and secure project facilities.

Elysium Midsummer Festival was a music and art festival, celebrating as wide a range of artistic talents as could be supported. With art projects ranging from glass blowing studios to water sculptures, and bluegrass bands, Elysium succeeded in creating an amazing experience for attendees and staff alike. As lead producer, had the primary responsibility for event safety.▪ Design and implement policy, scope, and requirements for Fire Safety Plan including securing qualified personnel, material, and oversight for all use of fire on site. Specialized knowledge about safe use of fire in art installation and performance was required. Primary interface with local fire departments for permits and inspections.▪ Design and implement the Event Security Plan including staffing, staging, material, and scope of security teams. Primary production oversight while on site. Managed contractor relationships with primary security vendors before, during, and after event. ▪ Designed and implemented the policy scope and requirements for Event Medical Plan. Secured qualified personnel, material, and oversight for all medical teams on site. Performed systems administration and time-sensitive technology related services that supported 400 scientists, researchers, and staff running 1,000 computers and servers. The San Diego Super Computer Center is a 400-employee operation that offers access to super computers and data services, computing and storage, software and packages, networking and grids, and visualization services. ▪ Provided full time support and special project assistance with building and educating users on utilizing computer resources and with installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining audio-visual systems.▪ Installed hardware and software and provided troubleshooting workstations running Solaris, Linux, Windows XP, Vista, Mac OS X 10.3-10.5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, 4. Fedora Core 5, 6, and networked servers.▪ Coordinated planning, purchasing, installation, and repair of required hardware such as phones, printers, workstations, expansion cards, and NAS stations.▪ Project managed evaluations, testing, installation, maintenance, and contract management for software and physical security systems.▪ Created and maintained user accounts for a user population of 800 and handled documentation on all topics for the Information Technology Department.▪ Developed project scope and requirements and managed all vendors and installers on a project building physical security systems for two buildings. ▪ Design, develop, and manage construction for a Surveillance system with 65 cameras and 8 biometric locks.▪ Primary Administrator on security and surveillance systems

Founding member of the LLC which was formed to create a legal structure which would be responsible for events, grants, and projects relating to the local San Diego Burning Man community. Hosting music and art festivals, film festivals, grants for art production. Set policies and guidelines for community spaces. ▪ Accountability for official activities within the purview of events. ▪ Oversight of events, including policy, staffing, and finances.▪ Approval and oversight of operations and procedures of art grants

Performed computer systems administration for the AjA Project, an international non-profit organization that sponsors youth education in areas of violent conflict or social upheaval. Served as the project manager for all information technology (IT) projects starting from two users up to eight full-time staff and 70 volunteers in three countries.▪ Provided systems administration for 15 workstations running Windows 2000/XP, and Macintosh OS X 10.3 and server.▪ Served as the network administrator for office infrastructure and performed primary support on all software and hardware used by staff, volunteers, and students.

Supported 75 machines running Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.3, or SGI 6.5 in three instructional labs and served as the primary administrator for a Linux server in the Visual Arts Department. Provided primary application support for students and faculty.▪ Administered the departmental organization unit within the campus active directory structure.▪ Performed long-term planning of computer resources that supported pedagogical needs.▪ Coordinated repairs, planning, purchasing, installation, and troubleshooting with campus departments.▪ Migrated film archives to digital images including color synchronization across hardware and software.

In addition, served as the co-systems administrator for 3 NT servers, a Redhat server, and a Mac OS X server.• Provided support on the primary e-mail server for the University of Rochester and technological expertise for Eastman networking, curriculum, and staff procedures. • Performed strategic planning, served as the primary point-of-contact for vendors’ services, and provided input into annual and strategic budgetary planning and support of four public computer labs.
