 Responsible for the safe start-up, shut down, and monitoring of GE frame VI gas turbine including reading gauges, and recording activities in operating logs and records. Carry out pre-start checks on frame VI gas turbines unit before start ups. Involved in shift operations as a GE frame VI gas turbines operator. Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on mechanical components of frames VI gas turbines in an efficient and safe manner. Maintain equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valves, pumps, parking glands, etc. Proficient in the use of power hand tools including; grinding, cutting, drilling machines and torque wrenches. Maintain safe working conditions, identifies and corrects or reports unsafe conditions in work areas and perform housekeeping activities including painting of equipment as necessary. Keeps O&M manager fully informed of unusual plant conditions and current job progress as the job relates to facility operations when assigned on shift. Ensure environmental regulation compliance during operation and maintenance of plant equipment. Involved in combustion inspection and major overhaul of GE frames VI gas turbine. Involved in the removal and fixing of gas turbine components such as compressor blades, turbine buckets, fuel nozzles, combustion liners, crossfire tubes, transition pieces, e.t.c.  Participated in removal and fixing of the auxiliary and load gear box. Understands the gas turbine cooling water and lubrication systems. Basic understanding of mechanical component such as pumps, valves and bearings.

Ensures the safe and reliable operation of the facility by ensuring all site safety and environmental requirements and procedures are properly implemented and takes corrective actions as necessary. Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in performing such duties.Oversees and provides direct supervision and feedback on all operations, including startup, shutdown, inspection, routine chemical testing, all switching and tagging, and equipment trouble-shooting.Regularly and directly assists the Assistant Operations Manager in facets of department administration and power plant management. Maintains administrative documents. Generates reports and ensures employees are provided the tools and equipment to properly perform their work.Provides advice and counsel to the Operations Manager regarding the technical and administrative conduct of shift operations.Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant through supervision of direct reports, completing performance reviews, conducting investigations, and administering discipline as necessary.Assists in the selection, orientation, training, and development, of new employees, assuring high work quality of O&M Technicians.Serves as the "Manager on Duty" for critical work required after normal hours to ensure oversight and execution of safe and efficient completion of work.Plans, directs, and supervises routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; supports corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment.Communicates with other company personnel on-site and at other locations.

Startup, shutdown, synchronization and general monitoring of the Gas turbines during operation.monitoring and maintenance of auxiliary equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, heaters, filters, fuelsystems, lubrication systems and electrical systems. Detection and escalation of operational defects within the power plant to concerned departments. Opening or closing of valves, switches and circuit breakers in sequence to start or shut down auxiliary and compilation of operational data by completing and maintaining forms, daily work logs and reports includingdocumentation of O&M activities, part usage and inventory updates. Initiating investigation and inspection of equipment failure or abnormal operational conditions. Control, Monitoring and Regulation of parameters and conditions based on instrumentation limits on the HMI. Communicating with system operators such as NCC, TCN and NGC to regulate and coordinate line voltages, transmission loads,frequencies, startups, shut downs and synchronizations, gas pressures and temperature.Recording and compilation of operational data by completing and maintaining forms, daily work logs and reports includingdocumentation of O&M activities, part usage and inventory updates. Initiating investigation and inspection of equipment failure or abnormal operational conditions. Control, Monitoring and Regulation of parameters and conditions based on instrumentation limits on the HMI. Communicating with system operators such as NCC, TCN and NGC to regulate and coordinate line voltages, transmission loads,frequencies, startups, shut downs and synchronizations, gas pressures and temperature. Control of generator output to match the phase, frequency and voltage to the power grid before synchronization. Placing standby black start diesel generators in service in emergency situations.
