Vince PriceResearch Description: I worked on enhancing the specificity of a chimeric protein switch and helped generate a protein library with an altered specificity to its activating ligand. Through directed evolution, promising variants isolated via FACS were screened and characterized.I have also worked with FPLC.

Mentor: Andreas BennResearch Description: My work here focused on the effect of Bone Morphogenic Protein Receptors and on blood vessel formation in Human Umbilical Vein Enodthelial Cells (HUVECs) to identify key interactions between these receptors on the cell surface. This was achieved through a variety of knockdowns and then looking at protein levels up.

The project was focused on how copper was sequestered in late endosomes and lysosomes during the later stages of Wilson’s disease and mechanism through which these high concentrated centers formed.The work was continued work at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Lab measuring copper X-ray fluorescence as well as X-ray Absorption Near Edge.
