Christopher Carlson has served as a principal investigator, project manager, field director, and crew chief for cultural resources projects in SWCA’s Albuquerque office from 2004–2016, with duties including coordinating with clients and government regulators, supervising archaeological field crews and laboratory staff, and completing comprehensive survey, testing, and data recovery projects. Mr. Carlson is adept at planning/logistics for long-term, remote field projects and camps, and is a strong proponent of mentorship in field and office, including implementing standardization and other efficiencies in field and report writing. He is a team player and am most interested in a positive work environment, maintaining project timelines, and providing solid deliverables.Mr. Carlson has a solid background, situational awareness, and mindset in Safety and First Aid via Wilderness First Aid training (2016, 2014, 2012), certification as a Utah Emergency Medical Technician 1988–1990, and current certification as Community Emergency Response Team member.In 23 years of professional experience, Mr. Carlson has worked with academic institutions and cultural resources management firms throughout New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Texas, California, and Kansas. While in New Mexico, he has served as a principal investigator; field director; crew chief; primary author; coauthor; published author; and report contributor for data recovery excavations, testing excavations, and surveys. He has directed multiple crews for three large U.S. Forest Service Wildlife Urban Interface block surveys ranging from 3,800–6,000 acres, a U.S. Bureau of Reclamation survey of 2,231 acres for a large-scale desalination project near Alamogordo, New Mexico, and a large data recovery project near Alamogordo, the Green to La Luz Waterline project, that included prehistoric residential features and 11 human burials.
