About Christopher Carson

Christopher Carson received his bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Strathclyde in 2011. Christopher completed his PhD in 2015 in the Experimental Quantum Optics and Photonics group at the University of Strathclyde for his work on Bose-Einstein condensate interferometry for measurements of fundamental physics, inertial forces and gravitational gradients. After his PhD he joined The Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP) as a researcher where he currently works on mid-IR laser source and imaging system development for sensing applications, as well as compact, efficient and novel laser and laser systems for quantum technology applications. In 2021, Christopher started a Senior Researcher role at Fraunhofer CAP where he led the quantum sensing activities and was technical lead on multiple funded projects on novel, compact and efficient lasers and laser systems for a range of quantum technology applications. In 2023, Christopher Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy as a Project Manager in the convertor control department in Glasgow. In this role he is responsible for managing the various technical projects, as well interfacing with customers and collaborators.
