I practice in the areas of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law, including obtaining and enforcing intellectual property rights. I handle cases dealing with various technologies and industries, including automotive, chemical, consumer, and the internet. I am located in metropolitan Detroit area, but I try cases throughout the United States.My litigation background includes serving as a law clerk to Federal District Judge Paul D. Borman in Detroit and practicing intellectual property law at a large international law firm. Federal judges in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan have selected me to serve as a special master or technical advisor in a large number of patent infringement cases. My assistance allows the judge to provide the parties with timely rulings in a cost effective manner. I have also served as a discovery master in various types of cases, resolving discovery disputes in a cost-effective manner.In my role as a court appointed special master, technical adviser, or discovery master, I frequently assist the judge in settlement conferences by acting as a facilitator or mediator. I am also available to assist a mediator chosen by the parties with patent law issues and understanding the technology at issue in the case. I have completed civil mediator training.
