Award-winning author Christopher Dickey is the Foreign Editor for The Daily Beast and a regular contributor to NBC and MSNBC. Previously he was the Paris Bureau Chief and Mideast Editor for the Beast and for Newsweek Magazine. Prior to his assignments for Newsweek, Chris worked for The Washington Post as Cairo Bureau Chief and Central America Bureau Chief. Chris's columns about counter-terrorism, espionage and the Middle East continue to appear regularly on The Daily Beast. Chris's latest book is "Our Man in Charleston: Britain's Secret Agent in the Civil War South" (Crown, 2015) a New York Time best-seller. Previously his "Securing the City: Inside America's Best Counterterror Force -- the NYPD" (Simon & Schuster) was chosen by the New York Times as one of the notable books of 2009.Earlier books include "With the Contras: A Reporter in the Wilds of Nicaragua" (Simon & Schuster, 1986); "Expats: Travels from Tripoli to Tehran" (Atlantic Monthly Press, 1990); "Innocent Blood: A Novel" (Simon & Schuster, 1997), and "Summer of Deliverance: A Memoir of Father and Son" (Simon & Schuster, 1998). His most recent novel, "The Sleeper," was published by Simon & Schuster in September 2004. The New York Times called it "a first-rate thriller." Chris has also written for Foreign Affairs, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Wired, Rolling Stone, The New York Review of Books, The New York Times Book Review, and The New Republic, among other publications. He has been a frequent commentator on CNN, MSNBC, National Public Radio, the BBC, France 24 and other national and international television and radio networks.Chris is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and of the Anglo-American Press Association of Paris.
