While interning here I learned a lot about the basics of GNSS and simulators. I developed a 6DOF trajectory modeling system using JSBSim and Python to create realistic airplane trajectories from waypoints.

I simulated virtual camera views for an Artemis lunar landing photogrammetry experiment (SCaLPSS: Stereo Cameras for Lunar Plume Surface Studies) measuring erosion of the lunar regolith. I also processed the data from these simulations and presented it weekly to the SCaLPSS group to help in the iterative design of the camera system. I used ViDI(Virtual Diagnostics Interface) and CAD software to plan laser-based measurements in wind tunnels models. Another smaller project involved processing images of wake profiles in MATLAB to find frequency content. At the end of the internship, some of my research was included in a published paper on the design of a lunar plume-surface interaction measurement system.

I assisted in creating a collaborating virtual workplace for a project management team. This involved designed a website and project management structure on Microsoft SharePoint and Teams. Additionally I picked up a side project and ported a programming algorithm from SAS to Python.

I conducted research under Ashraf Bastawros on a new Digital Imaging Correlation (DIC) Technique. The goal was to analyze the Fourier Transform of images instead of the real space images. This process would allow for an image to be analyzed with only a photo of the material after it was deformed. The code was developed in MATLAB.

I conducted research under Peter Orth on the impact of neural networks in modern physics. My work involved coding my own linear regression model to familiarize myself with machine learning and then using a neural network library in MATLAB. After completing my research, I presented my work at the ISU Undergraduate Research Symposium.
