The military has been the bulk of my experiece. I have gone on two deployments; the first was in contingency with Operation Enduring Iraqi Freedom and the second was Operation New Dawn. My first deployment I volunteered for the Airmens counsel, spent my off days becoming Combat Life Saver certified, and was hand selected to be the safety officer for night flight. My second deployment I was placed in a supervisory role upon being activated by the Ohio Air National Guard. While serving my second deployment in Iraq, I was placed in charge of the brand new 1.8 million dollar Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System (VACIS). The VACIS is able to look in cargo such as fuel trucks, dump trucks etc without having to physcially look inside. While serving in Iraq I was promoted from and E-5 to an E-6. When this occured I was moved out of the search area and was placed as an area supervisor, in charge of half a dozen troops. Being in the military has helped me grow as a leader and has helped me become an effective communicator.

Athens, Ohio

I worked as an intern with the Athens County Sheriff's Department. During the internship I saw the daily operations of a sheriff's detective and sheriff's deputy. I was able to navigate through the interbadge system, assisted in collecting evidence, helped process evidence, and witnessed deputies serve a search warrant. This internship gave me insight into a police officer's job and has helped shape my career goals.
