One interesting thing about working in HR at the higher education level is that its allowed to me to experience and solve a wide variety of operational issues unique to the industry. After 15 years in the profession I've developed a wide background in HR including onboarding, training, IT, AHCA, unemployment, operations, and compensation.I've built a reputation as a Business Partner who goes far beyond his job description and serves as a liaison between multiple departments and HR in addressing procedural problems. As such I've been able to leverage technology to find new efficiencies and have a proven ability to streamline policies and procedures.Some of my accomplishments include:--Getting buy-in for the adoption of I-9 Anywhere which will speed the up the onboarding process for our remote employees .--Creating process manuals for creation of HR paperwork and input of HR information into SAP--Saving the university thousands of dollars in overpayments by blocking the payments in SAP. Drove $20K in savings in first year of implementation.--Simplifying the process for paying out one time payments to our part time employees--Serving as a business analyst to help create electronic versions of all Personnel Action processesRecently all of the campuses have merged into one HR and I have been named as part of a committee to explore and streamline our operational procedures. Working in a university system has given me the confidence and ability to communicate with a wide variety of cultures and employees at all levels including senior leaders. My background in HR has prepared me to head into many branches of the field. Ultimately, I would like to become a HR Consultant and am currently exploring Generalist/Business Partner and Compensation positions, particularly in insurance, medical and technology fields.But when I'm not in the business world, I'm in the theatrical world and a bit of an avid traveler. After almost 2 decades as an actor, I began writing a theatre/travel blog called Chris' Corner which focuses on tales of my time on stage, regional theatre news and reviews, reviews of B & Bs, and tales of my travels.

Update compensation data, schedules, and system access information, with an average of 10,000 personnel actions per year. Keep track of types and number of errors departments have on their paperwork to determine additional training needs.Serve as a consultant for Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) in terms of queries and procedures, as well as a Business Partner to multiple departments and go-to-person for technical and HR matters. Currently function as the point person for determining employee eligibility regarding the Affordable Health Care Act. With recent merger of all campuses into “one HR”, I am also part of a committee looking to streamline and unify processes and procedures.HIGHLIGHTS:--My colleague and I successfully persuaded the university to begin the usage of I-9 Anywhere. This function of Equifax will allow us to name our own I-9 approver so we can have the form completed for employees coming from out of town/state before they arrive in town. This will permit us to onboard them more efficiently.--I wrote process manuals for the completion of onboarding/transactional paperwork and for the entry of data into the SAP database. This reversed the prior trend of having no documentation or aids for end users as well as assists in future succession planning for this position.--As part of a committee, I was able to persuade the adoption and usage of “Employment Pause”. This function turned off the pay of part time employees during periods of non-work, but kept them active so they did not lose access to vital university systems. This function reduced the amount of paperwork processed and resulted in high levels of employee and end user satisfaction.--In my first year as lead management, I drove over $20,000 in cost savings on overpayments when I discovered a way to turn off monthly payments in the SAP database. -
