I set out to be a graphic designer but along the way I learned what I really like. Metrics! After completing an internship in high school at the Charlotte Observer Newspaper, there was no doubt in my mind that I would pursue graphic arts in college. Adobe Creative Suite became my life while at North Carolina A&T. My student projects included building HTML sites, designing product packaging and even some CAD. After winning two campus art contest and 4.0 semester, I was on cloud nine. I found myself working at a screen printing business digitizing embroidery files; eventually being promoted to lead designer. After a few years, static art no longer stirred me up. Broadcasting was my next move! Emmy award winner Ron Dejoseph, offered me great advice and pointed me to a certificate in broadcasting. Camera operation, video editing, copywriting, and even podcasting are a few of the skills that I added to my repertoire. At this point I had graphic arts and broadcasting under my belt and I was highly proficient with a plethora of software. This lead to many opportunities in broadcasting but the one that changed everything was being a Media Coordinator at B of A. There I directed webcast for audiences of thousands worldwide. Shows that required metrics reporting afterward. This was it! Out of all the fun broadcasting processes, it was the show metrics that made me tick. I love results and understanding the impact of business practices. So I became certified in Business Intelligence and Data analytics and I'm currently pursuing a career in Business Analytics. My skills now include:Accessing data using SQLData visualization tools, such as Microsoft Excel and Tableau (actively learning Power Bi) Metric and KPI developmentExtracting insights from a data setMeasuring business impactPromoting Artificial Intelligence to manipulate dataIt has been a journey of growth and I'm getting better everyday.
