Profile bio

About Christopher Hartman

Author, editor and two-time New England Book Award recipient (2018 and 2019) for novels I've project managed and edited (Sons of Granada and The Last Columnist, respectively). I'm an arts writer for Upstate Diary, a magazine devoted to creative people living in more rural areas beyond the New York metropolitan area, and am Reviews Editor for and contributor to Pangyrus, a literary magazine based at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School. I've authored one biography - (about Henry Hoagland, an early Boston-area venture capital executive and presidential advance man); edited the memoir of a high tech pioneer (Harlan Anderson, co-founder of Digital Equipment Corporation); and have contributed feature articles and book reviews for the Christian Science Monitor. I was also a panelist at the Business History Conference, Toronto, 2006. At TechTarget, I was responsible for content strategy, and editorial for evergreen as well as remediated content. I worked closely with site editors and the Traffic group to optimize SEO, rich media, and linking recommendations. I've also worked with TT's content management software to update online pages. At educational publisher Pearson Learning Solutions, I managed between 1,000 and 2,000 textbook projects annually - involving project management and purchasing digital and offset printing, as well as coordinating fulfillment in a fast-paced work environment that required acute attention to detail, organizational skills and coordination with management, vendors & other PLS departments. From 2000-2005 I was Editorial Director of the Newbury Street Press, a small press devoted to biography, memoir, and family history. I oversaw every aspect of the production of books - around a dozen annually - including project acquisition, and engaging contractors to write, edit, design, index, print, and promote them. I would also oversee each project's schedule and vendor relations.

Listed skills include Editing, Publishing, Editorial, Publications, and 25 others.
