I come from a university technology lecturing background, so speaking clearly has been a vital tool of my trade for many years. I have also been involved with live theatre work for over twenty years, so bringing words to life through drama is a passion of mine. I have experience in audio books, so am comfortable with longer reads. All this combines to give me a commanding vocal presence in voice overs where qualities such as warmth, authenticity and authority need to be conveyed with precision to get a message across. I speak with a natural, unforced standard British English accent in a smooth, warm baritone. Being used to stage direction, I love to enter into dialogue with a client to achieve a result we can be proud of and which achieves the desired objective. I have a small well set-up home studio, and can engineer high quality finished audio files to tight deadlines.I have recorded Sci-fi audiobooks for Oxford eBooks, and for private authors. At least five of my productions are now available on Audible, with more in production. I have also provided voice overs for many online advertisements and explainers, as well as corporate work for Siemens and Xerox.I pride myself on my flexibility and speed, and can usually turn around shorter projects within 24 hours of getting the green light!

As a passionate advocate of sustainable development, I went back to university in 1994 to undertake a Masters in Energy and the Environment at Cranfield. After a short period in consultancy (BSRIA), I first came to Oxford Brookes to pursue my studies further in 1996, and remained there for the next 24 years. It was an unusual and enjoyable role in a small group in the School of Architecture, involving teaching, research and industrial consultancy. My varied areas of interest have included:Advanced thermal analysis of buildings and building details using dynamic thermal simulation (IES-VE and TAS) and 2D and 3D numerical modelling of thermal bridges (Heat2 Heat3, TRISCO and BISCO). Passive solar design, low energy buildings.Advanced insulations.Energy collection from building facade.sBuilding Regulations, SAP assessment, SBEM, Research and consultancy. Teaching (MSc Sustainable Buildings), PhD supervision. Latest specialism: use of solar energy on building facades (Enhanced Transpired Solar Collectors).Author and co-author of many academic papers for peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
