About to start the next work adventure with Alteryx. At Splice Machine, in support of our platform deployment on Kubernetes, I wrote a Kubernetes Operator in GoLang, and also created a CLI based tool, also in GoLang, to streamline some of the more overly complex configuration/maintenance processes. At Veritas I was a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer working in the Azure Cloud environment. We migrated several on premises data centers to Azure regions around the world. The application was heavy on ElasticSearch, SQL, and .NET applications. As with many on premise to cloud projects the initial direction was lift-and-shift, and quickly after the migrations were complete the project entered the dreaded cost-reduction phase. I came out with a great appreciation for the top Azure folks at Microsoft, they are fantastic. At Connexions I was a Web Systems Engineer supporting a .NET application on IIS. I have discovered that my infrastructure and development knowledge are invaluable when it comes to troubleshooting web based applications. Even without visibility into the source code I quite often intuit what is happening code-wise in order to pinpoint root cause when troubleshooting issues. This opportunity has allowed me to become quite proficient with the dynaTrace application. At Emerson I was the Architect, Builder and Maintainer of multiple system types. Windows Servers, Windows Desktops, Linux Servers, SQL Servers, Asterisk VoIP Server and Cisco Switches. In addition to my in depth knowledge of these systems I also do application development in VB6, VB.net, C#, Perl and PHP writing both web and desktop applications. I enjoy all of these facets of the IT world. While I know and understand quite well all these systems, it is my understanding of how everything works together that gives me my edge.I remember my first experiences with the IBM PC. Reading the DOS and BASICA manuals and creating .BAT and .BAS files using "copy con". We have come a long way since then...

I joined the military and specifically chose to be an infrantryman because I knew that my civilian job would be in the IT field. I should have perhaps followed the advice of the recruiter and followed the military intelligence path. My military experience was fantastic and is where I lived "give it your all" and "take charge of the situation" mentality to approaching life. The biggest compliment our unit received while I was in was from an active duty Army Ranger who was attached with us for his reserve component. He was very impressed with the way we trained. I attributed this to many of our leaders having been deployed over the years.I was in a Scout platoon in the now dismantled CSC 1/136. I went through PLDC though I took an early ETS during a downsizing of force in 1992.
