As the managing director, developing the local GfK Entity and Positioning it as a thought leader in the East African Market Research industry was my key task. Whilst ensuring renewals with existing clients and generating new sales, I ensured that clients saw GfK as a valued business partner and adviser in industry insights and market developments. I was the authority of GfK in this sub-region, ensuring that services were executed effectively, efficiently and profitably according to the set quality standards. This was made possible by my excellent people skills that enabled me to lead highly motivated and productive teams.

My role included, and was not limited to the following:- Assisting the Regional Managing Director in ensuring smooth operations of data-in, pre-processing, data out and dispatch processes that contributed to the production of data for Client reports and Information. -Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. -Monitoring and reviewing information to detect or assess problems raised from teams and countries. -Coordinating with Quality Manager to assess the quality of work done in accordance to GfK standards/best practices.

l Managed the retail audit team across the four countries that we covered - Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia. I was responsible for Managing Agencies that we worked with in the other countries apart from Kenya. Most importantly, managing the retail players in a way that ensured continued cooperation as well as adding value to their business through expertise consulting.

Mombasa, Nairobi, Central

As a Key Account Manager, I ensured that my clients optimised sales of Nokia Phones. Key to this was training their sales teams to confidently sell benefits of Nokia phones to end users. I ensured all aspects of trade marketing were adhered to - proper in store sales materials, display units and product brochure placement. I ensured proper Comparative skills were passed to their sales force.

As an Advertising Executive - Account Manager, I not only sold advertising benefits to my clients but also ensured that they got real value from their placement. I did placement consulting for my clients and collated reader feedback for them. I closely worked with design teams to make my adverts as appealing and communicative as possible.

I worked in Cashiering, Credit Assistance as well as system Administration at the branch level. I did local marketing to place our building society as a financial institution of choice in our location. I trained new joiners according to the laid down procedures.
