Senior Production Assistant & Field Producer | Trans-Antarctica Expedition
ABC Sports built a reputation for covering unusual events. This included coverage of the Trans-Antarctica Expedition in 1989 & 1990. In all, ABC provided five prime-time updates of the seven-month, 4,000-mile journey. I served as the Senior Production Assistant and eventually the Field Producer. Alongside a cameraman, I traveled with the 1990 International Trans-Antarctica Expedition during aspects of the 3,741-mile, the 220-day expedition was the first-ever non-mechanized dog sled crossing of Antarctica. The trip took seven months; the team endured temperatures that dipped to 113 degrees below zero and one storm that lasted 50 days. No one had ever tried a polar crossing of such length; it is unlikely anyone ever will again.
Freelance Production Assistant
With the goal of gaining direct experience during my college years, I worked incrementally as a Freelance Production Assistant specializing in Auto Racing. My expertise included Formula 1, NASCAR, & Indy Car racing. I primarily worked with ABC Sports but clients also included ESPN, NBC Sports & CBS Sports. During this time, I also worked on other live broadcast events including Monday Football, College Football, Baseball, Bowling and the Iron Man. In the end, auto racing was my specialty. Worked alongside Executive Director and the Senior production teams in preparation for live broadcasts. Fast-paced work environment with intense hours and commitment. Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
