Internship
Keir Manufacturing
Asheville, North Carolina Area
KEIR Manufacturing is a business to business manufacturer in the wire industry. They sell 3 different types of products: abrasives, wear resistant ceramics, and flyer bows. I worked in each of these departments to learn about the products, and the processes that go into making them. Working in the department I built relationships with my co-workers, and had to use clear communications and ask any questions to keep mistakes to a minimum. Making, and learning from mistakes was expected. These products are an interesting niche, and working on them makes me look at wires completely different now. For the last month I worked in the sales and marketing department. I gained valuable experience learning how to navigate a new database, and meeting the needs of our customers. The timing for this internship was perfect. When I first started some of the orders for the abrasives department had been increased to where they were running behind. With me being added to the team we were able to get the orders out at a faster rate.in getting the order out on time. In April the sales and marketing department went to a trade show in Germany. I was able to learn how to do the sales in time to be able to help out in the sales department. KEIR manufacturing gave me more responsibility that I had expected. Through this internship I gained many skills, and confidence that has transitioned into what I am doing now and I the future.
